We went to the Danube delta this weekend.
Just got back, and unpacked and made some dinner and put the kids to bed, and are tired. So details will have to wait until tomorrow. But we drove up to Tulcea (which is worth an entry or two in its own right) and took a boat deep into the Delta, and stayed there overnight.
There are a lot of birds in the Danube delta.
More in a bit.
Posted by douglas at May 29, 2005 11:25 PMDear Doug:
I am looking forward to any views you might have on the Danube Delta. I found it to be endlessly fascinating, though I haven't been there probably for four years.
I miss seeing the white storks & their nests atop seemingly ever power or telephone pole. I also thought that Tulcea felt like being in some nice Austrian or Bavarian town...it wasn't like being in Romania at all.
Be that as it may, the real reason that I'm writing is to comment on how much I enjoy your occasional forays into history...Istanbul & the oak logs being the most recent examples...just bring it all back to life for me.
I read a lot of history. I know how history is supposed to be written...and you do it good, dude...lol. I'm not sure what kind of law you are doing, but if you ever decide on a massive career change...you do have a future writing history if you want.
(I've been meaning to say this for probably a year or more...so it's nice to finally get this off my chest)
Be Good,
Traveller
