A minor departure

fpi_coffecup.jpg I have some annoying trash to take out over the next few days, so the Vrancea and Vinogradov blogging will have to wait. In the meantime, enjoy this Unitarian hymn, courtesy of Ereshkigal of Oklahoma:

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee,
Praise the strength of coffee.
Early in the morn we rise with thoughts of only thee.
Served fresh or reheated,
Dark by thee defeated,
Brewed black by perk or drip or instantly.

Though all else we scoff we
Come to church for coffee;
If we're late to congregate, we come in time for thee.
Coffee our one ritual,
Drinking it habitual,
Brewed black by perk or drip instantly.

Coffee the communion
Of our Uni-Union,
Symbol of our sacred ground, our one necessity.
Feel the holy power
At our coffee hour,
Brewed black by perk or drip or instantly.

More odd theology (of my own devising) can be found with the coffee hymn here:

It has been conjectured that further symmetry breaking will lead to a God in Six Persons, which have tentatively been named Bereshith, Tetragrammaton, Incarnatus, Agape, Pentecost, and Paracletus.

Alas, They do not assemble to form a larger, robot Godhead; on the other hand, one might consider Them/Him a justice league.

Then there's the Lucky Charms unified theory... but that can wait.

Dear God! Have the Unitarians no baristas?

Syd, I think at the time the hymn was written, espresso machines were effectively a Trinitarian monopoly.

I wonder how John Wesley (who drank more coffee than I do) brewed his.

"a justice league"

Am I seeing evidence of a Yu strange attractor?

You know, the last Justice League comic I read was a Filipino reprint of the mind-control starfish story arc, must have been two decades ago. But I know that the Waring-Holbo children enjoy the animated series, so.

"I have some annoying trash to take out over the next few days"

Damnit. If you'd waited until today, I'd be calling. Dentists, Program Reviews, and the knock-on (or off) consequences (and all their silly associated meetings) postponed my personal attempt at intervention. Nichevo.

Good luck, Carlos.

That second bit reminds of Freeman Dyson's attempt to explain his contribution to quantum electrodynamics by appealing to the Athanasian Creed.

Paraphrasing, it goes something like:

There is the Tomonaga Incomprehensible, the Schwinger Incomprehensible, and the Feynman Incomprehensible, but these are not three Incomprehensibles but One Incomprehensible.
