From a recent instant message conversation:
Me: Boing Boing: Obsessive gamer Storm Troopers get a Vader-visit
Me: wonder if that happens in wwii games.
Bad Mama: and to think, israel doesn't want these kind of people
Me: and our thoughts converge on the same idea from two different directions
Bad Mama: amazing

Posted by coyu at March 15, 2005 08:51 PMI think that Origins, the well-known and widely attended international game exposition and fair, has a policy for dealing with the little Hitler wannabes - uh, well, the policy isn't on the Origins website, but there is a similar policy on the GenCon website. (GenCon is, of course, the national gaming convention more strongly focused on role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons.)
The policy?
20th and 21st Century Military Uniforms are prohibited from the convention. These include any uniform that can be construed as an official military uniform from any country, or any uniform that can be confused with uniforms worn in an active official capacity, such as security personnel, police officer, deputy, fire marshal, paramedic, etc. Uniforms of attendees currently on active duty are exempt, providing they are properly attired. Active military personnel are prohibited from carrying their firearms, regardless of whether they are licensed to carry them.
So, clearly there are Nazi fanboys.
Also, I know Wikipedia is the free encyclopedia, but for the love of crumbcake, why does an article like this exist?
Yeesh. Think of the time spent compiling such a list - incomplete because there have got to be more than 78.* Also, why would one need to put information like this online? To settle burning debates on rec.games.frp.advocacy? For the minutiae value? Aspergerish completeness compulsion? Imagine the role-playing session that breaks for a need to read Wikipedia's article about Rabbi Loew's Golem.
Sheesh. Read the Golem, please?
