Sunday at Herastrau

smgleaf2.gif We spend almost every Sunday at Herastrau park. Herastrau is a very big park, in the north of Bucharest, on the shores of Herastrau lake. It sports restaurants, boat rentals, various playgrounds, a car race track for minicars, and more. It's immensely popular and even on bad weather days there is a crowd. We are, of course, going there for two reasons: the playground, and the trampoline.

It was very muddy, that's why the boys were wearing their mud outfits. Doug and I don't have mud outfits, so we got... muddy. As you can see, it's truly November here. The leaves are almost all fallen off the trees and the days are overcast and dreary.

Ah, I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Beautiful pictures...
I've been at the trampoline with my daughter last summer when I visited Romania. Herastrau is the park where I used to go when I was a kid, playing ping-pong on one of the concrete tables, tennis on one of the courts near Pescarus restaurant, riding my bike, renting a boat or having a beer in one of the beer-gardens with friends in high-school. I lived for almost 30 years very close to it, on Radu Beller St. and went to school to what is now “Jean Monnet high school” so I have a lot of beautiful memories about this park…

"Jerry the mouse!" I shouted laughing out loud when I saw the picture of this smiling kinder floating in midair in such a dynamic pose you can only see in cartoons.
