I agree. And now I have a terrible need to book myself on a flight to Paris. Must acquire those pants. Or something with that label.
hm...
Claudia, you always come up with obscure and wonderfully funny things.

The company is Tom Bihn (tombihn.com), and you'll find more info about the label at http://www.tombihn.com/page/001/CTGY/NEWS.
Tom is an old friend, his bags are amazingly sturdy, and I actually translated this label for him a couple of years ago (poorly, I'm afraid -- why is it that things always look a little different once they're printed?).
Best wishes,
Luce
Posted by: Luce at October 9, 2004 03:23 AMLuke - apparently that lable has been around for some time and has made the rounds of the internet before. I'm not that up to date, it seems. But yeah, I want one of those bags too now.
Luce - huh. Six degrees of Kevin Bacon? What were the chances that the woman who translated this label is reading our blog? And, are you Doug's Luce? BTW, the text looked good to me. Put something on the internet and you'll have at least one person finding something to gripe about. Sheesh, as Doug would say.
Posted by: claudia at October 9, 2004 07:30 AMHi Claudia,
Thanks for your kind words about my translation.
The expression sounds funny to my ears, but yep, I'm the Montreal bohemian (or crazy Canuck, if you prefer alliterations) Douglas may have mentioned. That was when the Berlin Wall was still up. I can already imagine the interrogations. Yes, he was handsome then, and very charming, too. Dress, however, left a bit to be desired. Mention c. 1988(?) to him, if you want a funny anecdote. If needed, you can jog his memory by asking about certain items of clothing bought in a second hand store with personal labels affixed on: I think you have a right to full disclosure ;-)
Tom, I've known even longer. And that's why I mentioned the quality of his stuff: the bag of his that I have (from before his company was founded) doesn't look a day older. Wish that I could say the same...
As for the odds that I should be reading your blog... Claudia, I read all the time, lots of things, most of it not terribly useful. I'm just... a bit of nerd. My work makes me spend a lot of time on the Web when I'm not doing what I love most. As well, I was privileged to have a few remarkable students from Romania during the past few years, so I was very interested to learn about life there today, and started following your blog when you guys moved. And, of course, I was a tiny bit curious about this person who, as I had predicted to Doug on a hunch, would get him to settle down.
Most of all, I'm impressed and heartened by what I read, and by the life that you guys have build together. Doug sounds like he is truly happy with you and a wonderful dad, and obviously you're the reason this all became possible, and I'm so glad you guys found each other.
Warmest regards,
Luce
