That's what Jumba says about Stitch. We think we can rightly say that about our sons, too. Or how would you describe this mess? It used to be a muffin, and a tasty one too. David did the initial destruction swiftly and I don't think the muffin felt a thing. Then, he continued to create ever smaller crumbs in a very methodical way, squashing with his little fingers one crumb after the other, and again, and again... I shudder to think what he could do with, say, a chain saw.

I saw a kid do that to a couple of cupcakes at my daughter's last B-day party. Has to be a survival instinct of some sort...
Posted by: Bernard Guerrero at September 15, 2004 05:37 PMThat looks like Jamie's highchair after our most typical breakfast. Except our muffins are usually chocolate chip, which adds even more mess. I'm never sure how much of the muffin he's eaten and how much he's just reduced to crumbs.
Posted by: Laura Gallagher at September 15, 2004 06:29 PMWhat kind of odd survival technique is that? It falls into the same category as screeching, I think. Why screech? So that the wild animals can better find and eat you? (Can you tell I had screeching kids today?)
Laura - you are braver than I am. David so wants to eat by himself - with a spoon. I'm OK with him eating with his hands, if it's bits that he can pick up (nothing like rice or so). But the spoon? I'm so tired of all the cleaning up, you see.
With Alan, I was much more relaxed. (Or less anal.)
Of course, this means the kid will go off to summer camp one day without knowing how to use utensils...
