Belgrade revisited

fpi_girl.jpg It was so nice to be back in Belgrade. The people are so outgoing. The city is so full of life. The atmosphere is so upbeat.

We met friends and favorite places, ate once loved pastries at once loved coffee shops, and visited often frequented book shops. We strolled down the Knez to Kalamegdan. We spend an afternoon in Alan's old park. We saw our old house (still empty, waiting for us to come back maybe). Not once did I have to go down or up a single stair without someone jumping to help me with the stroller.

The Danube, oh, the Danube. I really did miss the Danube.

It was a nice visit. It's also nice to be back home. I can say "mulţumesc" again without following up with "eh, hvala".

Lots of food for blog entries, when I'm less tired and less wiped. Flying alone with two kids is not much fun. It could have been worse, though -- I met friends on the plane who helped me and I didn't need to change any diapers. Heh.

Tomorrow, then. I promise.

I REALLY know what you mean about the hospitality and warmth of the Serbian people; I went there exactly 2 years ago (Feb.19th) and it has been such a breath of fresh air. The Romanian custom guys dragged me out of the train at 1 am because I declared I was only travelling for 2 days there and only had 200 USD. I was 6 months pregnant, but that didn't seem to bother them, nor did the other border traffic "businessmen" with less amount of money than me. However, I managed to get back in the train, and it was such a major difference with the officers from the other side of the border. They were very warm and polite and smiling all the time. I met one of the coolest guys in the train station where I had to purchase my ticket back. He asked me to come into his office while he filled in the form and even had some wonderful cookies for me. And people in Belgrade were always so eager to help out with directions. I have only been there for a couple of hours, but the town and the eople have won my heart :-)

About Dorna Milk.
There is a new kind of milk on the market: Lady Milk. The gymnast in the advertising spot is Nadia Comaneci. She says that the milk taste like Calcium. Does Calcium has a good taste? :)

I saw the advert again and it looks like she says "cu plus de Calciu" not "cu gust de Calciu".
