Serbia: on the other hand

fpi_glasses.jpg After a week of loud but fruitless negotiations, Serbia is still without a government. This means that the country still has no President or Prime Minister; and while it does have a Parliament, that body has so far not been able to accomplish anything at all. Effectively, the country has been without anybody in charge since the old Parliament dissolved in November.

On the other hand: the Serbian Statisical Bureau reports that December 2003 saw surprisingly rapid growth in the Serbian economy. In fact, the "month without a government" was the best month for Serbia's economy in the last five years.

Coincidence, surely.
