Loads of money will buy you a truly literary trip -- on the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul with a one-night stayover in Bucharest. A one-way trip costs over 3,000 British pounds.
Since we don't have loads of money and two kids, we will probably just make a pilgrimage to the Baneasa train station and peek at the train. September 6, 2004. Already booked in the calendar.
Posted by claudia at December 8, 2003 11:35 AMAs far as I remember Orient Express has a stop also in Sinaia, Bucegi mountains. I think it is nicer to see the train there, plus that you can see the beautiful view.
Posted by: Anca & Misha at December 8, 2003 12:38 PMYup, it does indeed. (The link I supplied shows the route, including the detailed itinerary.)
However, it leaves out of Sinaia in the evening and out of Bucharest in the morning. Part of the fun is to wave *after* the train, you see. Little boys love that but little boys need to go to bed at 7.
As you see, we are simply slaves to our children. ;-)

Guided tour of Peles Castle Arrive 08:20 Depart 10:55
10:55 is in the morning. Same day at 13:45 arrives in Bucharest.
Indeed it is too difficult to travel 1.5-2 h to Sinaia only for 1 minute waving after the train. Even if that train is so special.
And it is monday.. a day when people usually work :)
Have a nice day!
