There are two aspects of 2M which make it different from most other
waypoint programs. First, 2M takes an ASCII text (plain) file as input
with description, latitude, longitude on sequential lines. All lines
starting with an exclamation mark are command lines. This allows 2M to
accept a great variety of formats and makes cut and past editing
straight forward. Output files have ".OUT" file extensions but are
just ASCII text files like the data files. Data files can have any
name without a ".OUT" extension. Straight text (ASCII) can be edited
and printed on almost any device (a handy feature on poorly equipped
vessels). Second, 2M allows a rapid plot on a basic world mercator map
at almost any scale and with good speed. This map can be printed but
only on a graphics printer with a Windows driver.

An in-built scripting language can be used to create animations,
automate map displays using data from other sources such as an MS Access
database, and serving images to interactive map displays on web pages.
Features include full control over virtually every aspect of a map
display, many layers of maps and data, thematic mapping, a number of map
projections, and simplified access to digital chart of the world.
Searching for named data points and world base-map data are included.

The program uses the moving-map principle and the user can easily zoom
in to the map (five levels deep). Maps can be downloaded from the
Internet or scanned by the user (not supplied by the author). While in
motion, the program stores all route data (speed, position, height,
bearing, date and time) which can be played back later so one can see
exactly what route was followed and which places were visited at any
time. Furthermore, the program offers many more user-friendly features.

The system can be used to analyze socio-economic and demographic data
produced by censuses and surveys and to support management decisions
associated with for example marketing, sales, site and personnel
location, and advertising. Other spatial data such as environmental
data can be displayed. A manual and sample data are included.

You can customize all types of data you want to input and all of the
queries to label and graph. Also, you can add your own programs into a
universal editor to edit and query the database. You can digitalize
the streets with their data and then search addresses.
