Privatefirewall also constantly monitors other sensitive areas of a PC where intrusion can occur and reports on their status so that users can make regular decisions about these areas and make changes as necessary. A report is generated as a log file which the user has the option of viewing. Once the Privatefirewall software is installed it immediately goes to work by evaluating four specific areas where PC intrusion can occur: Network, DCOM, Browser, and Access Control. A total of eleven individual settings are evaluated across these four areas. Once Privatefirewall completes its evaluation it automatically adjusts Browser and Access Control settings to secure levels (medium security setting for the Browser and the disabling of file and print sharing for Access Control). The status for all other settings are reported but not changed. User needs vary widely with respect to these settings. A tool that would automatically change these settings to a secure level could prevent a PC from functioning in the way the user needs. Privatefirewall's reporting capability is a proactive way for a user to monitor these settings. Description:	ShareClean v1.0 allows a user to turn "Windows file and print sharing" (NETBEUI or LANMAN protocols) on or off as needed. When connected to a high speed Internet connection via an Ethernet card, your machine is available to anyone else on your network where they can read, write, delete, or grab your files on any of your shared drives without your knowledge. This program allows you to turn off the sharing when going online to eliminate the risks and turn sharing back on when you wish to share files locally among multiple machines in your business or residence. Owing to the design of Windows95 your machine needs to reboot to modify the settings. This software preserves your original settings to eliminate the need to reconfigure manually each time you go to turn sharing back on.
