Description:	ASHE is a hex editor with a built-in scripting language. Through the user interface you can view basic data types in hex, binary or decimal. From an 8 byte viewport, data is sliced into 8 single characters, four 16 bit integers (signed and unsigned are displayed), two 32 bit integers (signed and unsigned), two single precision floats and one double precision float. All the types are displayed, on separate tabs, as decimal, binary and hex, and can be edited in the same base as the display. ASHE is capable of editing very large files, our largest test file was over 250 MB. There are advanced search functions allowing you to quickly find differences between current and prior search results. Searches can be performed for strings or any of the integer types available and search values can be entered in decimal or hex. All displays are little endian to match the Intel architecture. Through the scripting engine, you can insert and delete blocks from files, resize (up or down) files, alter the values in files, get user input and use conditional logic to respond, perform searches and iterate through the results; In short, a solid file manipulation language is provided. Example scripts are provided in the help file and there are more examples and tips available at our web site. A separate (free) script run time application is available on our web site for people who do not wish to register ASHE. So, with the run time available, scripts created by ASHE could be run by virtually anyone.

DEdit is smart - it will not open multiple copies of itself everytime a new file is double-clicked from the shell, it sends the file to the first instance and exits. It will not open the same file twice, instead it updates the open copy to reflect the contents of the file. DEdit will remember where you left its main window when you close it and will open it back up in the same size and location. This version of DEdit is a beta release - comments and suggestions are definitely appreciated.

Other commands let you indent blocks of text, reformat paragraphs, and insert whole files. Any change can be undone or redone, right back to the first one made. Visible bookmarks can be put on lines, and edit commands can be applied to all lines with bookmarks. Frequently used combinations of commands can be saved as keystroke macros. The spelling checker has dictionaries for 13 languages, and additional ones can be created from word list files. For purposes such as software development, TextPad has a customizable tools menu, and integral file compare and search commands. Tool output can optionally be captured in the Command Results window, and the source file can be opened at the corresponding line, by double clicking the error message.

Description:	Normally Windows's Wordpad program will not allow you to take a peek inside a program; if you try you will be greeted with the warm, friendly message, "Can not load executable files.". If you want to change the text of your favorite program or just see what's in it, and you're sick of seeing this message, this patch will remove this limitation from Wordpad. Your 'fixed' version of Wordpad will allow you to load executable files (EXE, DLL, etc.) and display their contents in the Wordpad window. You can then examine the program for cheat codes (common in games) and 'easter eggs' (hidden features or secrets in a program). You can also try to find out what an unknown installer program will install if you run it. You can even use Wordpad's Find feature to search for specific words or phrases.
