2000_E

Summary: Year 2000 clock Test & Fix for Win95/98
License: Shareware
Author: Glyn Farrow
Email: glyn.farrow@virgin.net
Download: 2000_e.zip (Oct 22 1999, 22.9K)
Description:
This program is a solution for the year 2000 clock problem in many IBM
PC & compatible computers running Windows 95 & early versions of Windows
98.

The Problem: The system clock sets itself to 4/1/80, or somesuch, when
you boot up after 1/1/2000. This affects all software that relies on
the date (99% of all business software).

This is a design fault in PCs and, although many newer systems have
rectified it with new chips or new bios's, many machines with this
problem exist.

2000 addresses this problem with a software solution that is similar to
that integrated into other operating systems. It lets you test the
clocks on your PC for millenium compliancy and will install Fix software
to make them compliant. This could save you having to trade in an
otherwise non-compliant machine.

Homepage: http://www.beaglesoft.com/
Download: clkwt140.zip (Jun 15 1999, 633.4K)
Description:
ClockWatch gives you an easy and thorough way to synchronize your system
clock to the exact time using the Internet. It queries one of the
National Institute of Standards and Technology timeservers, which then
returns the correct standard time. Standard time is converted to local
time and compared with the internal system time on the computer, and
adjustments are made if necessary. Time can be checked on demand; on a
regularly scheduled basis; or automatically, based on the specific
experience of your system.

Results from clock-setting sessions are charted so that you can see how
accurately your computer keeps time. Clock setting notes can also be
logged to a text file for later review. Latest version can call your
ISP automatically or dial the NIST directly using a modem. When you
register, you'll be able to use a settings history graph, plus install
ClockWatch in the background so that it's accessible through the system
tray or embedded in a batch file. Works behind proxy servers.

can be turned on to show elapsed hours, minutes and seconds after a
click on a start button. After a click on the stop button, the
stopwatch retains the elapsed time. The tiny program window stays on
top of other windows and may be dragged to any position on the screen.
It may be resized to hide the alarm and reset buttons if desired. It
may also be minimized so that it appears only on the taskbar, to be
recalled when needed by clicking on the taskbar entry. It is useful for
tracking on-line connection time or rough measuring of running times of
programs. A protocol showing the day and date the program was started
and the times when the start and stop buttons were pressed along with
the time difference between each of these plus the total of all start
and stop time differences is written to a file called 'Watch.txt' in the
directory in which Stopwatch is installed. The installation creates
program tabs which start the watch, call Notepad for editing and
printing the protocol file or show the readme.txt file.
