CIVLT11S

Summary: Design of culverts, storm sewers, and channels
License: Shareware
Author: Allan Herle, Renaissance Endeavours
Email: CivilTools@Canada.com
Homepage: http://welcome.to/civiltools.com/
Download: civlt11s.zip (Nov 6 1998, 1.1M)
Description:
CivilTools is a suite of spreadsheet-like tools intended to assist a
qualified Civil Engineering designer in performing calculations related
to the flow of water in pipes, culverts, ditches, and channels. The
specific situations addressed are:

A. Analysis of capacity, flow velocity, and depth of flow in a
round pipe flowing full or partially full (by gravity).
B. Analysis of capacity, flow velocity, and depth of flow in a
box section pipe flowing full or partially full (by gravity).
C. Design of a culvert, including analysis of inlet control, outlet
control, and tailwater conditions
D. Analysis of flow in a channel such as a ditch or canal, including a
determination of whether the flow will be subcritical or
supercritical, and an estimate of the size of sediment (bed load)
that will be transported.
E. Design of a storm sewer system using the Rational Method.

In many cases, special algorithms are used to solve complex non-linear
hydraulic equations, when a direct solution is not possible. The
software is arranged in a manner that will be familiar to spreadsheet
users. Program modules, which each perform an individual task, are
arranged like sheets or pages in a spreadsheet program. Full
context-sensitive help is also provided.

License: Shareware
Author: Bob Johnson, RunPager Software Engineering
Email: RunPager@NEO.RR.COM
Download: mprpv104.zip (Aug 12 1999, 249K)
Description:
Machine Process Alert, Internal/External Event Supervisor

- Internal and external event supervisor monitors the operation of a
machine or process and alerts the user via numerical pager and\or
telephone call. It also optionally sounds alarms or selected wave/midi
file thru your audio board or shells an executable when a trip event
occurs. An event may be external such as a switch closure sensed thru a
serial port interface, or internal such as a DDE LinkExecute, a start up
command line string or a window activation or deactivation event.

- Expanded capabilities to handle sky page numbers and control
characters.

- Speaker-phone voice call permits listen-in, and remote reset of, and
suspension\resume of audio alarms and trips using telephone keypad.
This mode requires a modem with voice capability. (This program has
only been tested on a Rockwell chip based speaker-phone modem)

- Twenty eight zones of supervision (four zones per comm port) with an
unlimited number of switch devices on each zone. Simple two wire hookup
of switch devices to optional cable interface connector or wire up your
own using the supplied pinouts.

- Restarts on power down/up sequence and runs in background or
foreground maximized or minimized with the monitor turned on or off.

NVFoil

Version: 1.01
Summary: 2-D aerodynamics problem solver
License: Shareware
Author: Luigi Tenneriello
Email: tennerie@cds.unina.it
Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/2524/nvfoilen.html
Download: nvf101.zip (Nov 16 1997, 1M)
Description:
NVFoil v1.01 is a 2-D aerodynamics problem solver. It can analytically generate elliptic or Naca 4- and 5-digits airfoils, and it's also able to efficiently manage airfoils defined point by point. NVFoil can calculate the Cp (aerodynamic coefficient, related to the pressure) on the surface of an arbitrary body or airfoil, even pasted from other applications through the Windows Clipboard or from a file. NVFoil also calculates the integral aerodynamic coefficients (Cl and Cm) and the center of pressure. It also may correct the results with the effect of the compressibility of the air or of a trailing edge flap. NVFoil calculates the Standard Atmosphere parameters (density, pressure, etc.) at every altitude in Troposphere and Stratosphere. NVFoil doesn't need any airfoil aerodynamic characteristics table: it calculates them, with the precision you need and at the condition you specify, all in the easy Windows interface. It's an excellent tool for wing section aerodynamic understanding.
NVFoil is completed with a wide airfoil database, most of which was built by UIUC members. It's available in English and Italian language, with an on-line help. NVFoil is for Aeronautical Engineering students, and for aero-modelists. It's Freeware for students, privates, universities and non-profit organizations, it's Shareware for commercial organizations.

shaked3.zip (Jan 15 1999, 948.3K)
shaked4.zip (Jan 15 1999, 1.1M)
Description:
SHAKE91 is the most commonly used computer program for the 1-D analysis
of dynamic soil response. However, one of the limitations of SHAKE91
is the lack of a user-friendly interface for creation of the input
files, and for the processing of the output data. To this end, we
have developed ShakEdit, a Windows 3.1 based editor for SHAKE91. In
a typical application, ShakEdit is used to create an input file for
SHAKE91. User-friendly screens are provided to input the data for the
different SHAKE91 options, and then to create the input file. After
running SHAKE91 in a DOS window, ShakEdit is used to process the output
files. The results can also be viewed graphically in ShakEdit, and the
graphics created can be saved/printed for inclusion in documents.

Other features:
* A number of equations used to estimate Gmax entered in Option 2.
* A number of Attenuation Relationships for PHA and response spectra.
* Design spectra such as NEHRP, UBC and AASHTO.
* Computation of Cyclic Stress Ratio using either a method based on: 1)
the simplified equation by Seed & Idriss (1971); or 2) on equivalent
uniform shear stress using the peak shear stress computed with
SHAKE91; and, the cyclic resistance ratio based on SPT. Liquefaction
Analysis.
* Two methods to compute settlement of saturated sands.
* Two methods to compute slope displacements: 1) Newmark, 2) Makdisi
& Seed
* A postprocessor for SEISRISK III.
* A routine to retrieve the peak ground acceleration with 2%, 5%, or 10%
probability of exceedance in 50 years from the files of gridded
points used to create the 1996 USGS National Seismic Hazard Maps.
