imPRESSion Lite provides the standard set of desktop publishing features
including master page layouts, automatic page numbering, importing of
word processing documents in various formats, column balancing, and
automatic text flow from one frame to another.

imPRESSion Lite supports various font and paragraph styles, bullets,
widow and orphan controls, character rotation, drop caps, and scaled
characters within a paragraph. This application also allows you to
wrap text around or inside any object.

It allows you to add and edit special objects such as stars, bubble
stars, regular polygons and spirals. imPRESSion Lite includes over
160 gradient shapes whose color variations can be easily controlled.

With imPRESSion Lite, you can create complex selecting criteria with the
object selector roll-up, you can use 3D effects like extrude and lathing
and distortion effects such as the spiral, shperize, ripple, and others.

The main types of Multimedia Events supported by MCIShow are:
- .BMP Windows Image Files
- .WAV Windows Digitized Speech (Sampled Waveform) Audio Files
- .MID Midi Music Files
- .AVI Windows Digitized Audio/Video "Video Clip" files
- CD Audio

At the core of MCIShow is the MultiMedia Control Script. Multimedia
Events in the script can be combined with control events, programming
logic and subroutines. MCIShow is distributed with several sample
scripts that demonstrate how a .MCI script can be written and used.

MCIShow is almost a simple Multi-Threader. It runs several events
simultaneously. A group of events makes-up an event sequence. Midi and
CD events events can overlap sequences of Bitmap, Wave, Avi, Clear, and
Pause events. These event types can share the same space in time. For
example, CD soundtracks can back-up Wave file playback, or Midi can play
in the background during multiple Bmp Picture sequences instead of
linking to a single slide.

A good use for WSQUASH is reducing screenshots of Windows programs for
use as "thumbnails" in Online Help. If you reduce a 256 color Windows
.BMP file in size using conventional techniques, you will lose detail
when shrinking your image. Squashing (scaling by even factors)
increases the quality of the reduced image. Geometric objects are
almost preserved. Text is still almost readable.

WSQUASH uses a color loss method called Color Clipping resulting in a
uniform appearance, and reduces your image by 3:2 each time it is
processed. WSQUASH comes with open C language source and samples.

WSQUASH will likely be all most folks will ever need, but the Command
Line Programs are included as an "industrial strength" alternative.
