bP Copy v1.05 is a DOS file copier with a number of advantages over the regular Copy and Xcopy commands. bP Copy shows the size of each file being copied, and if a file is large enough, shows a bar graph which acts as a progress indicator. bP Copy can "span" disks: if one disk fills up during a copy procedure, you can continue copying on a new disk. You can copy files with any attribute (including hidden and system) and make the files retain their original atributes using bP Copy's /T (true attribute) switch. Also, since bP Copy was written entirely in assembler, it is faster than most other DOS or Windows file copiers. bP Copy's command syntax is based on the MS-DOS COPY command (i.e. it supports /Y = auto-replace). This software has been tested by numerous beta testers around the world running systems ranging from 8086's with MS-DOS 4.01 to Pentium machines running Windows NT 4.0 with NTFS (the NT File System).

MakeTXT can rescue text from documents that will not load into your word processor. Just because a file is incompatible with your word processor doesn't mean you can't extract some, if not all, of the text in the file.
MakeTXT converts any file to the world-standard plain text/ASCII format by removing non-standard bytes. Therefore, MakeTXT will make a file in an "incompatible" word processor format load into your word processor. For example, a Word 7.0 file might not ordinarily load into your word processor. But when the file is processed through MakeTXT, the result is a file in ASCII format. When you load this ASCII file into any word processor, you will see the contents of the original file minus special formatting.
MakeTXT has optional line wrapping and carriage return/line feed removal. The line wrapping feature makes text fit into the width of the screen without splitting any words in two, making it possible to view a file using DOS's Type or Edit commands. The CR/LF removal eliminates problems caused by "return" codes at the end of each line.

Description:
Multi Patch Compiler/Processor for Web Deployment v1.10 was developed to make direct data changes to binary files, i.e. to make amendments to saved games files, as opposed to using a large (112k) save game editor, just to alter one byte. 'Multi Patch Compiler' supports a simple but powerful scripting language, which allows you to patch binary files in a number of different ways. MPC also has the ability to create stand alone COM files.
You can freely distribute version 1.10 and earlier executable, and '*.mpc' files. To give you an idea of how small the distribution files can be, 'Multi Patch Processor' is only 2.81k in size, and on average the '*.mpc' file could be as low as 125 bytes as in the example script. Note: 'Multi Patch Compiler' can be run on any platform that is compatible with MSDOS 3.3.

With each extension that you define you'll be able to set which program is to be used to open files with this extension, a description of up to 67 characters long, and the colors to use when displaying these files and their descriptions. Registered versions of NFO allow you to define up to 6 external programs that can be used to load files.

with the "Dir" command and the space on the disk used by the file is
made available.

With Purger, you can purge one, a select group, or all the files in the
current directory in a single pass. First, Purger overwrites the
entire file with "0"s (Default character which you can change), then
deletes the file. Note: The file(s) can be any type and any length.

Author: Runar Skaret
Email: ruskaret@online.no

Description:
ReadText uses a special routine to distinguish text from binary code.
When given a filename, it removes whatever it finds that looks like
binary code in the file. What's left behind is what the program
believes to be text only. This program is meant to be used on program
or data files, where you think there might be some text information
hidden, like game cheats, program usage information, etc. All the text
in such binary files, can already be read by any good textviewer, but
all the binary code cluttering up can make it difficult to find what
you're looking for. Using this program should, by removing most of this
code, make your search a little easier.

SCDOS

Summary: Copy files between removable media; DOS4GW app
Download: scdos100.zip (Mar 18 1999, 183.1K)
Description:
Super Copy is a command-line utility for copying and backing up files.
It is meant to replace the functionality of the "copy" and "xcopy"
commands provided by DOS and other more advanced operating systems.
Furthermore, Super Copy provides the special capability to selectively
copy files from one removable disk (or any comparable medium) to another
even if you only have a single disk drive to operate such media. We
call this feature "one-drive selective copy".

Super Copy has the following functional advantages over competing
utilities:
1) Optimized memory usage: can use all available memory under DOS.
Runs in 80386 protected mode, and can address up to 4GB of memory.
2) OS compatibility: runs in compatibility modem under Windows (3.1,
4.0 "Windows 95", 4.1 "Windows 98"), Windows NT and OS/2.
Commercial versions are available as native console-executables for
Win32 and OS/2.
3) Conveniently copy files or entire directory structures between
removable disks with a minimum amount of disk swapping. You will
not be bothered by a myriad of prompts asking you:
"Please insert source disk"
"Please insert destination disk"
over and over. You will not have to copy an entire disk when all
you want to do is copy one or two files from one disk to another.
4) A simple command-line syntax, similar to the "xcopy.exe" command.
5) Tested for compatibility with storage products from major
manufacturers.

Setup Disks Maker PRO (SDM) was intended to make installation packs for DOS a lot easier...in other words it cuts files greater then one diskette into smaller ones fitting to one diskette, thus creating on your HD a series of directories containing the cut file pieces. It is quite comfortable when you want to copy a long file to diskettes and do not want to appeal to any other third party programs for copying it back onto another machine. SDM includes a small and quick program with which you just "stick" back your file from diskettes (or HD). SDM offers an easy-to-understand, user-oriented interface, helping you to do what you need instead of wasting your time on looking for the right options. Built-in help is always there by your side to help you orient yourself.

Version: 1.54
Summary: Visual file Comparison utility for pgmrs
License: Freeware
Download: vc154ked.zip (Aug 27 2000, 41.4K)
Description:
I was looking for a good file comparison utility and found vc152.zip
(Visual Compare 1.52) by John R. Whitney, in the Simtel DOS archive.
This was easily the best such utility I found, so I attempted to locate
the author, to check the status of this program. Although I didn't
manage this, I did locate a newer version (1.54), which I combined with
the KEDIT macro files from vc152.zip, to produce vc154ked.zip (hence
the name). All credit to John Whitney for a fine piece of software!

VC compares two text files and shows the differences between them in a
scrollable, color-coded display. The user can select a composite view
of the two files or a split view, the latter can be either split
vertically or horizontally (VC will keep both halves of a split display
in sync. as you scroll the display). When scrolling, you can jump
back and forth between points of difference in the two files. You can
also select 25, 43 or 50 line display modes and change the color
coding, via command line options.

Version: 3.03

License: Shareware
Author: Jem E. Berkes, Alkaid Software
Email: berkes@bigfoot.com
Homepage: http://alkaid.knotwork.com/
Download: wipe-303.zip (Feb 3 1998, 9K)
Description:
Wipe v3.03 is a DOS utility which can be used in place of DOS's DEL (erase) command to achieve a higher level of data security. Normally, when a file is deleted, DOS hides the file name and marks the file's space as unused. Until that data is overwritten, it can be recovered by a number of high and low-tech disk utilities. Wipe takes two extra steps before deleting the file: first, it overwrites all the data in the file with random garbage, then it destroys the file name. This makes it impossible for anybody to recover the data in the original file. Wipe is very fast because it is written in assembly language, and it uses standard DOS file system calls. Therefore, it is completely compatible with compressed volumes and file systems other than FAT (e.g. HPFS and NTFS). Wipe also detects if it is being run under Windows, and if this is the case it can provide its own "command prompt" to ask for a file name and switches.
