| Description: |
Bootmsg v1.53 allows you to change the Win95/DOS 6 startup message. For DOS, this is "Starting MS-DOS". New to this version, since the previously released version 1.0, is the option to randomly choose a line from a given text file. Added to your autoexec.bat file, this will give you a different message each time you start. You can also specify you wish to change an old version of DOS (must still be v6.xx) under Win95. So you can now specify your message either from the command line, have bootmsg ask you for it, or from a given text file. Numerous additions of various DOS/Win95 versions have also been added. I now have a web page always with the latest version, and instructions on how to chat with me live to discuss bootmsg, or anything for that matter. |

Boot reboots your PC with temporary boot configuration files needed for programs which cannot execute properly if you have a memory manager installed - like Emm386.exe or a QEMM memory manager. By using Boot you no longer need to have numerous of boot disks ready each time you want to play a game with special memory requirements. Boot also comes along with a high level of safety, meaning if anything fails (fx: if you don't have enough memory for a program) - Boot will immediately re-boot your old an usual system files.

LegendOS Boot Manager v0.92 is a boot manager utility to make you able to use two or more operating systems in your PC. It has an easy and user friendly Setup utility which allows you to select which partition tables you want to boot and configure the boot manager. It is tested with Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, and Linux. It can start Windows 98 partitions which stay in a non-primary partition, or non-first fixed disk. LegendOS Boot Manager can also show your floppy drive as a virtual partition table, and boot from floppy disk when you select the Drive A: option. It was the boot manager module of a new operating system project: LegendOS. But the whole LegendOS project development except the boot manager module has been stopped. |

MSTBOOT 4.0 allows to access up to 12 operating systems stored on hard disk or floppy: DOS,WIN3.x,WIN95,WIN98,NT,OS/2,LINUX,etc. A partitioning of the storage media is not required any more. Right after switching on or resetting the computer a boot manager will be activated enabling the user to choose between the available operating systems. If there is no keyboard entry, the boot manager will automatically start the operating system of the last session with some seconds of delay. When the startup is completed, MSTBOOT frees al allocated RAM space. The installation an system adaption of the boot manager can be carried out with a user-friendly dialogue program with online help under DOS. |

The loader is not O/S specific and should work on any standard PC with any O/S. It has been successfully tested with many versions of DOS, OS2, Win 3x, Win 9x, Win NT, Linux, and Win 2000 Beta. The included install programs are intended for DOS, but could be easily modified to work in any O/S.

Use TAO.EXE in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to display different verses of the Tao Te Ching when your system boots. The program keeps track of the last verse and date displayed. It will then display the next verse only after 6am on the following day. The program uses the creation date of the Tao Te Ching text file, TAO.TXT, to store the date and verse number. This is then compared to the current system date and time to determine when to change verses. The path to the file TAO.TXT must be given in the command line if it is not in the current directory. C source code is included. Permission for any use whatsoever is hereby granted by the author. |
