Homepage: http://www.cs.vu.nl/~rcblanke/
Download: xx453.zip (Jan 29 1999, 732.5K)
Description:
Access v4.53 is a DOS menu program used to launch applications quickly
and easily. It runs in SVGA by using Zephyr-software's SVGACC library,
which supports more than 20 different adapters and has full VESA
support. The interface is very simple and user-friendly. Use the
mouse, cursor-keys or advanced QuickKey feature to navigate through the
menu. Over 700 program-icons may help you find the application you
need, and more Windows .ICO files can be added to Access' library.
Multiple color-schemes are provided to suit your personal preferences.

Whenever you try to launch a program that Access cannot locate in the
given directory, it will be searched for automatically. The menu can
hold an unlimited number or programs, yet uses no memory to start an
application. No matter whether you launch a program directly from DOS
or from within Access, you will have the exact amount of free memory
left. By using the special Read-Only mode, Access should be able to run
on a CD-ROM, too. Additional features include a changeable screensaver,
context sensitive help, automatic file-caching and an integrated audio
CD player. It is completely bilingual: both English and Dutch are fully
supported.

AlacartE

Version: 4.62
Summary: DOS menu system
License: Shareware
Author: Tedy Shalev, SHANIT Software Consulting
Email: tedysh@ozemail.com.au
Homepage: http://www.ozemail.com.au/~tedysh/
Download: ala462.zip (Jan 26 1999, 233.7K)
Description:
The AlacartE v4.62 menu system provides a friendly interface for the DOS
environment. A preset menu lets the novice user avoid time consuming
navigation through DOS directories in order to invoke various commands.
The advanced user will also benefit, because the menu system requires
fewer key-strokes for operations such as backups, printing, and so on.
Options activated from the AlacartE menu have no further memory
constraints, as AlacartE does not remain resident during program's
execution. This means that the activated option operates exactly as if
it were started from the DOS prompt, making use of the entire available
memory space.

There is no limit to the number of programs (menu options) that may be
configured to run from AlacartE. Any menu option can be configured to
invoke another menu screen.

AlacartE is mouse driven (point n'click, drag'n drop). AlacartE
includes two screen savers which are too configurable. Also user
configurable are colors and sound. Even the Quit style and message on
"Quit - to DOS" are configurable, meaning that the AlacartE menu is
multi-lingual. The multiple DosKey feature is virtually unlimited and
it does not impose any memory restrictions. An optional security
utility adds password protection to any of the menu options. AlacartE
does not require a hard disk, i.e. it can be run on diskette. There
is no need for special setup to run AlacartE on monochrome screens,
as it will detect the display mode and set itself up! AlaSetup is a
stand-alone utility that configures the menu, but it may be removed
from the run-time system, rendering the preset menu unchangeable.
The AlaSetup utility allows menu titles modification using mouse drag
n'drop, or via keyboard function keys. This feature is demonstrated in
the Shareware release, but is fully functional only in the registered
version.

macros for DOS-programs in a graphic menu. In addition, Didro contains
a program for copying, erasing, moving, packing or unpacking files,

decides which programs are accessible for the guest. This prevents
that essential programs are executed by inexperienced or unwanted
users. Didro needs comparatively small conventional memory to run.
Didro supports long filenames when running under Win95/98. Didro also
supports hard disks capacity with more than 2.1 GB.

FDO-X

License: Shareware
Download: fdo-x1.zip (Oct 4 1999, 59.1K)
Description:
Although it is a rather old-fashioned application, I still consider
IBM's Fixed Disk Organizer (FDO) one of the easiest to use and most
elegant menu programs. Even when using Windows or a different OS, I
still make a DOS startup with FDO for old games and appplications.
Maybe there are other users who think likewise and want to continue
using FDO.

However, the 'date/time opening screen' of the FDO program, which comes
up if the system date has changed since the last time you used FDO and
which gives you the opportunity to set the date and time, is not capable
of handling dates in the next century.

The 'IBM Fixed Disk Organizer Year 2000 Patch' is a simple, but yet
effective, work-around to solve the date problem. It consists of a
small extra program (DT.EXE), which takes over the original 'date/time
opening screen' of the FDO program. It sets the date and time, as does
the original FDO, thus preventing FDO from coming up with its
malfunctioning screen.

Description:
The Menu Master v1.0 is a graphics menu used to manage hard disk programs. The user may select fonts, character sizes, and icons for each selection. All submenus including the main menu can have up to 10,000 selections and each main menu selection can have up to 50 submenus.
The User Tracking mode will help you keep track of computer users. Passwords are available for running your selections, changing the setup, and running the DOS utility program. The File Locking capability of the Menu Master can be configured to lock any file combinations at start-up and set certain attributes to the files. After exiting the Menu Master, the locked files are restored to their previous state.
One special mode of the Menu Master is the memory resident mode. In this mode, up to 100 programs can be assigned to different hotkeys. Whenever the hotkey for a program is pressed, the program will be instantly loaded. For instance, a text editing program may be assigned the hotkey ALT_T. To start the text editor, you would press ALT_T at the C:\> prompt. These hotkeys may also be programmed to change the current directory or drive. This mode is useful for both novices and more experienced people who work at the DOS prompt.
The Menu Master comes with a DOS utility program that gives you basic file manipulation. It's simplicity and ease of use makes it especially useful in performing copying, deleting, and other file manipulations. The DOS utility program includes a text editor that is useful for editing system files such as AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. The colorful environment and screen setup makes it clear and easy to understand.

Download: power-10.zip (Aug 23 1997, 5.8K)
Description:
Power Menu v1.0 presents a full-screen, text mode (colorful) menu which the user can scroll through with a lightbar. Up to 255 entries for the menu system can be defined in an easy-to-configure INI file. A counter in the bottom corner of the screen keeps track of the current item out of x items. The menu system uses only 1.4 KB of memory when you run another program under it. Power Menu, which was written in 100% assembler, is able to keep its memory usage this low even though it does not use temporary batch files to execute programs -- it is a true "shell".
