| Description: |
Block protects important DOS system files against changes. Protects C:\AUTOEXEC.* against changes and C:\CONFIG.* and C:\*.SYS from even being read or shown on dir listings. The registered version allows the protection to be disabled with a password, and the protection for drive A: through G: to be changed. It is possible to protect the files/directories of a drive against: Writing, Reading, Execution, Deletion, Changing of attributes, Creation, and Showing up on dir listings. BLOCK also logs the execution of all DOS programs to C:\DOS\BLOCK.LOG. This feature can be disabled in the registered version. |

| Description: |
Update v1.13 mirrors a workstations harddisk or part of it on a server and restores it at each startup. The comparision of the local harddisk with the mirror/archive on the server is about as fast as running CHKDSK on the local harddisk. Each archive can contain multiple version of the harddisk. Update supports Windows 95 long filenames even under DOS. Archives containing Windows 95 long filenames can reside on a filesystem that does not support long filenames. Update can restore a complete harddisk from the network using a boot-diskette. Various flags control the way the comparision is performed and which action that is taken on a mismatch. |

CRC-32 is an acronym for the 32-bit implementation of the Cyclical Redundancy Check algorithm, which uses polynomial division to reduce a block of data to a single 32-bit number. In particular, CRICKET (CRC-IT, get it?) uses the CCITT-sanctioned ANSI X3.66 standard, which is the same algorithm as that used by the PKZIP, ARJ, ZModem and Ethernet II implementations. DragonCrypt v1.2 is an encryption program. Use to scramble the contents of PC files to prevent unauthorized disclosure. Simple DOS architecture facilitates "drag-and-drop" use under Windows. Small file size allows for convenient transport along with target data. Passphrases (keys) are limited to forty ASCII characters. Input files may be of any type - output is always binary. Original filenames and extensions are preserved as source files are overwritten. There is no confirmation of passphrases upon encrypt, although there is a checksum test on decrypt. There is no archiving or escrowing of keys or plaintext. U.S. export legal, proprietary hybrid stream cipher is sufficient for most low-level security applications. DragonCrypt may be used in conjunction with other cryptosystems for enhanced security. |

Maximum password length is 8 characters, longer passwords will be cuted to 8 character length. The encryption/decryption speed is high. There are no universal keys that can open any encoded data. |

This produces a file the exact same size as the original file, but scrambled beyond the point of readability for even some of the most advanced cryptologists and hackers. The second mode allows you to lock it automatically from the command line. The program will block CTRL-BREAK and CTRL-ALT-DEL. The only way to get rid of it is to hit the reset button. The program was originally designed to secure a network terminal. Rebooting would log you out so it worked well. |

Executive Document Shredder eliminates a file in such a way that it cannot be recovered. This is useful for sensitive data that you wish to keep private. A normal DOS/Windows file deletion only removes all references to a file from the disk, however, the data remains on the drive until another file happens to overwrite it. Anyone with a disk utility and a desire to read the file can usually recover it in its entirety, even years after it has been deleted. EDS will shred a huge 16MB file in less than 30 seconds on most hard drives. Shredding of normal-sized documents is almost instantaneous. |

shredv21.zip (Aug 3 1998, 10.6K) |
| Description: |
When a file is deleted, it is not gone for good. It may be possible to recover deleted files through utilites such as DOS's undelete command or Norton's Utilites. This shredder program makes sure this cannot happen by overwritting the files' data with meaningless information. This shredder has been written as a terminate and stay resident (TSR) program. Unlike application shredders, this program can shred files on-the-fly, which is more powerful in terms of security. That is, files which are deleted without the operators' intervention are shredded. Also any files that are about to be truncated (shortened) to X bytes have there data after the new end-of-file marker shredded. |

strenc13.zip (Jul 20 1999, 18K) |
| Description: |
STRENC v1.03 is a MS-DOS application with filter functionality, for encryption of data streams. The well known filter concept allows to redirect data from/to files and/or other applications (using control characters <, >, | ). Processing is bytewise in- to output. That way it is well-suited for use with other data stream oriented applications. Command line formats for encryption and decryption are absolutely identical. Key values can be supplied on command line, in environment variable or automatically, generated by STRENC.
There is a unique option "Text Structure Preservation": That feature
STRENC uses a symmetric pseudorandom number controlled scrambling |

updat115.zip (May 25 1998, 66.9K) |
| Description: |
Update v1.15 mirrors a workstations harddisk or part of it on a server and restores it at each startup. The comparision of the local harddisk with the mirror/archive on the server is about as fast as running CHKDSK on the local harddisk. Each archive can contain multiple versions of the harddisk.
