COPYNEW - Update/create files from masters based on date/time stamp. COPYNEW was written for the purpose of keeping workstation files up to date on the network, i.e. a HOSTS file or even a standard CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT or binary files like Microsoft Windows 3.11 .GRP files. All you have to do is create a small configuration file that holds information about which files to synchronize. The format must be like shown below (like COPYNEW.INI). C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT, \\SUN\BACKUP\(pc).BAT C:\CONFIG.SYS, \\SUN\BACKUP\(pc).SYS \\SUN\MASTER\HOSTS, C:\WINDOWS\HOSTS \\SUN\MASTER\LMHOSTS, C:\WINDOWS\LMHOSTS You may give the master file any name, you want - just make sure to keep the format right (masterfile, slavefile). Running COPYNEW with the master file example shown above will keep the files HOSTS and LMHOSTS in the local Windows directory synchronized with the master files on the SUN server. Also a backup copy of the local CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT will be saved to the share BACKUP with the workstation number taken from environment; note that you may use any environment variable and enclose it in parentheses. |

Packet Send Utility is used on ethernet networks to test and demonstrate network throughput. It enables the user to enter source and destination addresses and message, and then transmits at the MAC layer directly to the NIC. Packets transmitted initiate at the driver level using FTP Software's FTP packet drivers. While a packet driver is used by PKTSEND on TCP/IP networks, IP addressing is not used. PKTSEND uses the type field in ethernet headers to indicate an IP datagram, but may also indicate other protocols. Raw packets can be transmitted specifying source, destination and packet type, which can then be monitored by other software on the network. |

PPRD v2.00 is a small program that turns an XT or AT running DOS into a dedicated LPD printer server. You can send jobs to the printers from any machine running LPR. It can handle up to 3 parallel printer ports. Serial printers can be handled by running diverting LPTn to COMn and running the interrupt I/O driver TSRCOMM, which is in LPTCOM.ZIP. Even a small XT with only a floppy will do. If the system is to run unattended you might even omit the keyboard and monitor. |

Trfwatch is a LAN Traffic Monitor. Shows top five users, top five links, top five IP Type (e.g. SMTP, POP, Telnet etc), and top five Protocols (Novell, IP, ARP, etc). Screen updates every second, and alternatively can show accumulated results. TrfWatch has a timeline which shows past 2 minutes (by default) bandwidth traffic or frame count (hotkey switchable). TrfWatch will also save summaries every 15 minutes (can be turned off) in text format for further analysis and archives. |
