Polynomial calculator

Summary: +, -, *, /, ^, sub, etc
License: Freeware
Email: schmong@primenet.com
Download: poly02.zip (Feb 9 1997, 63.7K)
Description:
This is a polynomial calculator program. With this release, you can: add, subtract, multiply and divide two polynomials. You can also raise a polynomial to a power, and substitute one polynomial into another. You can also find the value, derivative, integral, save the polynomials to a file, load the polynomials from a file, export them to a file that other programs can use and input a polynomial by specifying its roots, and by generating a random polynomial. The user input routines have also been greatly improved. You can also toggle to a 50 row display from the 25 row display by pressing F4. This helps in seeing more of the output of the screen. This program was written in response to all of the slow graphical programs that you can't get to do anything. You don't have to do much to get this program to do something, and most operations are instanteneous (at least on a 486).
Limitations: You can only input a polynomial up to degree 50.
Future: In future releases I will implement graphing polynomials, and finding roots using a multiplicity of methods.

Author: T. F. Higginbotham, Southeastern Louisiana Univers
Email: higginbotham@selu.edu
Download: sieve01.zip (Apr 25 1998, 9.4K)
Description:
This is a simple program in Turbo Pascal to generate all of the prime numbers less than or equal to a number that is input by the user. It differs from other programs intended to generate prime numbers in the following ways:

1.0 The sieve is placed as a random access file on a ramdisk, hence the
problem of the 64K limit for an array for the sieve is eliminated --
no array.

2.0 The sieve, the resulting prime numbers, and the timing information
are placed on separate files.

3.0 One does not need any special program to get around the 640k
limitations.
This is the output for the time required to find all of the prime numbers less than 20,000,000 on a Pentium running at 133 MHZ. I have not provided the 1,270,606 primes.
Elapsed Time Hours 1 Minutes 35 Seconds 19 Number of Primes <= 20000000 is 1270606
