Description:
Appler is a DOS-hosted Apple ][ Emulator. For those of you who don't know what Apple ][ is, I'll try to explain. It is maybe the first worldwide popular personal computer. Just imagine this: 48K RAM, 1MHz CPU, big main board with many separate chips on it... And compare it to today's powerful computers! If you have never seen any program running on Apple ][, you are probably thinking that it should be slow and ugly looking. But people who still remember Lode Runner, Karateka, Robot Odyssey, ... know that making quality games and programs doesn't require hundreds of MHz and tons of RAM.
aplersrc.zip is the source of Appler. It is 100% assembler. To build it, you need Turbo Assembler and Turbo linker.

COCO

Version: 1.50
Summary: TRS-80 Colour Computer 2 emulator, v1.50
License: Shareware
Email: jeffv@physics.ubc.ca
Download: coco2-15.zip (Apr 1 1997, 63.5K)
Description:
This package allows a PC with at least MS-DOS 3.3, 256K and EGA graphics to operate as a full-featured TRS-80 Colour Computer 2, running most BASIC and machine language programs available for that machine. At least a 16MHz CPU is recommended for reasonable performance. You will need to acquire, independently, the ROM image from a CoCo, CoCo 2, CoCo 3, or Dragon system as it cannot be distributed with this package for copyright reasons. Instructions for obtaining the ROM image can be found in the accompanying COCO.DOC.
This package is Shareware. If you register, you will receive the new CoCo 3 emulator, which is based on the same design but incorporates all the hardware enhancements of the 512K CoCo 3 (on a properly equipped PC). See the COCO.DOC file in coco2-15.zip for details.
IMPORTANT: The address for registration has changed!
The package features direct-disk access to real CoCo disks from within the emulator, read/write CoCo cassettes through a cassette recorder connected to the SoundBlaster, game-port joystick support, SoundBlaster output for realistic reproduction of CoCo sound, and more. A utility is also included which can move files between CoCo disks and your MS-DOS directory. The emulator also features a "virtual disk" capability, where the contents of CoCo disks can be stored, in their entirety, on your PC's hard drive.

file, it takes as input a standard PC file, which it copies into a
virtual cassette (.CAS) file according to the standard settings used by
the CoCo.

License: Shareware
Author: Eko Priono
Email: epr@mojokerto.wasantara.net.id
Download: em3134b1.zip (Mar 15 1998, 18.2K)
Description:
EMU386 is a MS-DOS device driver, it will partially upgrade 286s to 386s by means of software only. If installed, EMU386 will add real mode 386 capabilities to 286s, no additional hardware required.
EMU386 will allows 286 users to run 386 MS-DOS programs that conforms: (1) Didn't check or ignore CPU type. (2) Runs in real-mode only.
Some MS-DOS programs written recently are intended to run even on an XT, some of them accidentally had 386 opcodes mixed in. This kind of software will work flawlessly on a 286 with EMU386, since it has only few and sparse 386 opcodes. Programs that highly optimized for 386 will experience noticeable slowdown, that's because EMU386 mimic each 386 opcodes using multiple 286 opcodes. Another example of EMU386 usage is to give 286 users a chance to use plug and play devices. To use these devices, DOS users should install a setup program or device driver, that, in most cases, is written for 386s.

MODEL1-E

Summary: TRS-80 Model I emulator/support programs
License: Freeware
Requires: 16MHz 286 is recommended for reasonable performance.
Email: jeffv@physics.ubc.ca
Download: model1-e.zip (Jun 3 1997, 38.3K)
Description:
This package is a fully-functional emulator of the classic Radio Shack TRS-80 Model I Microcomputer System introduced in 1977. It emulates a 48K TRS-80 Model I with 4 single-sided, single-density disk drives, RS-232 option board (mapped to COM1 or COM2), and a printer (mapped to LPT1). Any MS-DOS-based PC is suitable for use with the emulator as long as it supports at least CGA graphics.
As single-density Model I disks are not readable by modern PCs, Model I disk images are instead stored as files on your PC's hard drive in the form of "virtual disks". Both instructions and software are included for connecting a TRS-80 to your PC, allowing you to transfer disks to the PC's hard drive via either a null-modem cable or a simple custom-built parallel cable. (Instructions for constructing the parallel cable are included.) As the ROM code in the TRS-80 Model I is copyrighted material, it cannot be distributed with the emulator. However, the emulator documentation also describes how legitimate owners of TRS-80s can transfer the ROM to their PC, using the same method used to transfer disk images.
This latest upgrade offers three new features: a speed control, the ability to write protect virtual disks, and a filter to correct linefeeds on printer output. Also, as of this release, version 3.02u, the package is now Freeware. The registration option is no longer available.
