Summary: PC Year 2000 test and fix for DOS and Win3
License: Shareware
Author: Glyn Farrow
Email: glyn.farrow@virgin.net
Download: 2000.zip (Jul 11 1999, 35.4K)
Description:
This program is a solution for the Year 2000 clock problem in many IBM
PC & compatible computers.

The Problem: The system clock sets itself to 4/1/80, or somesuch, when
you boot up after 1/1/2000. This affects all software that relies on
the date (99% of all business software). This is a design fault in PC's
and although many newer systems have rectified it with new chips or new
bios's many millions of machines with this problem exist.

The Solution: Year 2000 addresses this problem with a software solution
that is designed to run with almost any software application. This
program could save you money by not having to trade in your non-
compliant machine. Just install the watchdog software and the system
clocks will be correctly updated automatically to the right values in
the year 2000.

License: Shareware
Author: Pavel Otavsky, Barberry Hill Software and E.
Email: otavsky@sover.net
Download: clkwrk55.zip (Dec 9 1998, 108.5K)
Description:
Clockwork v5.50 automatically adjusts the clock drift, changes from
daylight saving to standard, to local time or to Universal time, or
changes time zone when traveling, all without losing the time setting.
Makes it easy to set the system time accurately using any kind of
audio-visual time signal, or does it by dialing the NIST atomic clock.
Clockwork measures the clock drift and calculates the necessary
correction. The clock drift measurement is refined over time and the
average accuracy can be one second per week or better. Clock correction
data is stored in a data file and a complete log of clock adjustments is
kept in a history file, if desired. Calculates time between dates and
converts time to Julian or Julian Decimal.

Description:
This zip file contains v2.00 of RTC.EXE, a program which provides read
and write facilities for the MM58167A RTC chip. In addition, it
maintains data in some of the chip's alarm registers for tracking the
year and providing automatic leap year adjustment. It is not a TSR and
merely requires that it be executed at least once every 10 months to
properly maintain its data (assuming of course that the RTC's battery
also holds up...).

RTCView1

Summary: MS-DOS Year 2000 test tool for PCs
License: Freeware
Download: rtcview1.zip (Dec 22 1999, 44.1K)
Description:
RTCView1 is an MS-DOS version of the popular RTCView2 for Windows. As
compared to other PC hardware testers RTCView1 does not make automated
Y2K testing. You have to understand a little bit about the PC Real Time
Clock problem to examine your PC. An intensive help system helps you to
understand the different issues that are fundamental to assure a good
transition the next millennium. Things like BIOS RTC interrupt, direct
access to RTC or use of power management through power.exe should be
taken into account. The program allows you to test the RTC without
changing the DOS date.

RTCY2K

Summary: RTC_2000 fix for certain non-compliant PC's
Download: rtcy2k_1.zip (Oct 15 1999, 28.5K)
Description:
Certain non-compliant PC's will allow the clock to be set manually
beyond 1999.12.31. However, since the BIOS on these machines does not
allow the RTC to work properly after 1999.12.31, this requires that the
PC date is set every time the PC is turned on. The program is designed
to be used by PC's that allows for manual adjustment of the date after
1999.12.31.

The RTC_2000 will set the system date in relation to the Real Time
Clock. It will move the system time by default 12 years ahead of the
RTC while keeping the original setting of the RTC.

the Year 2000 date problem, the RTC and system clocks, the time-slip or
Crouch-Echlin Effect, simple Year 2000 tests, and numerous web sites for

fail at some time on or after midnight December 31, 1999. Y2K TEST will
check your PC and explain whether or not your computer will pass into
the year 2000 without any problems. If your computer fails the test,
SecureNet offers Y2K FIX software for a fee per PC that corrects any RTC
or BIOS problems. Tested by National Software Testing Labs (NSTL) and
STLabs.

Email: mvv@wco.com
Homepage: http://www.wco.com/~mvv/y2kare/

Description:
Y2Kare is a utility for testing PC hardware for Year-2000 compliance.
It is especially useful for system administrators who have lots of
computers to track. It categorizes computers according to their level
of compliance, keeps a database of results and prints or saves reports
for each computer tested. It can be run from a network server and save
all results to a network drive but can be configured to log off the
network and out of Windows before performing any date altering tests.
It then goes back on the network again to save the results. It has
loads of options for various configurations and its behavior can be
customized by a system administrator to make it easy for his users to
operate the program themselves on their own workstations. It is as easy
to operate as a snooze alarm.

Y2KDOS

Version: 1.16
Summary: Y2K Test (Multi-lingual)for DOS
Download: y2kdos.zip (Jul 20 1999, 544.2K)
Description:
Y2K millennium bug test in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian
Portuguese.

Many PC's in use today have year 2000 non-compliant BIOS and most are
operating with a non-compliant Real Time Clock (RTC). PCs like this
will fail to keep correct time after midnight December 31, 1999. Simply
setting a PCs system clock to 12/31/99 and waiting to see what happens
is an insufficient test. The free Y2K TEST shows which of your PCs
clocks are compliant or not. If your computer fails any tests,
SecureNet offers Y2K TEST&FIX software for a license fee. Y2K TEST&FIX
corrects any RTC or BIOS problems detected by the test by fixing the
basic problem - the RTC.

Summary: Work-Around for non-y2k compliant CMOS
License: Freeware
Author: Bruce Cordero
Email: bcordero@mcimail.com
Homepage: http://bcordero.home.sprynet.com/El_Palomar.htm
Download: y2kwa21.zip (Jul 20 1999, 19.6K)
Description:
Y2KWA v2.1 is for computers with CMOS that will not take years beyond
1999. These present an incorrect year, usualy determined by its date of
manufacture, to the system at each boot-time after 1999. However, they
do present the correct day and month. Y2KWA keeps a reference file of
the date of the last time it ran and uses this information to do its
job. If run from the autoexec.bat file it will correct the garbage year
CMOS gives the system at boot-time. It also handles leap-day conflicts.
That is, if the year CMOS hands the system disagrees with the actual
year in "leapness", Y2KWA will prevent Feb. 29 from being inserted where
it does not belong or from left out where it does belong.
